![]() Everything gets backed up to my Gmail, and I get neat, transparent, and dark mode-friendly widgets that can be resized and swapped out right from the home screen. I've been depending on ColorNote for years, and it hasn't let me down, perhaps because there isn't much to go wrong in the first place. If you don't want to pay for Evernote or other upper-tier note-taking apps, this is the best ad-free app of the kind. The simplicity of it all, the ease of use, and the superb widgets all work so well for me. It might sound nuts, but this is one of my favorite features of ColorNote. You can choose from 10% to 100% opaqueness for ColorNote's home screen widgets, and they even adjust shades according to the dark mode or the light mode on your phone. Google's own note-taking apps, such as Tasks and Keep, don't offer this level of customizability for widgets, so it is wild that a basic free app kicks Google's butt here. If you're a stickler for staying on theme, this is a mighty useful feature. ![]() ColorNote is one of the few Android apps that lets you adjust the shape, size, color, and even transparency level of its home screen widgets. Blast your handwritten notes to popular cloud services like Google drive, Dropbox, Evernote, box, OneNote, Slack, iCloud, iMessage, email and more using the free Rocketbook app for iOS and Android Takes only seconds for any Pilot Frixion pen, marker, or highlighter to bond the ink to our specialized pages. Instead, the app is more suited to users who want to take beautiful notes that preserve that handwritten look. This is perhaps the best, most underrated feature of all time: customizable widgets. ![]() Of course, you can doodle as well as write, but this isn't an art app. One of the most useful features is the auto line advance, in which the app detects when you are approaching the end of the current line and automatically moves your writing down to the next line for you. You'll have to pay for options like dot grid paper which bullet journalers prefer, but the add-ons are inexpensive. The paper backgrounds available in the free version include blank, lined, grid, letter, and margin. The fountain pen will be enough to keep many users happy, but if you want more options you can purchase the extra calligraphy pen, wet brush, and ballpoint pen options. ![]() ![]() You can choose from different color inks and thicknesses, plus an outline option and also a wetness slider to control how "inky" the writing appears on the screen. In the free version of the app, you get a regular pen nib option and a fountain pen option which produces beautiful and elegant handwriting. ![]()
